BET HIP HOP AWARDS 2011 NOMINATIONS: Lil Wayne picks up a grand total of 19 nods

Lil Wayne is having the best week ever. After news broke September 6 that his latest album, Tha Carter IV, racked up close to one million in sales in its first week, it was announced this afternoon that Wayne has also earned the most nominations at this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards.

Weezy picked up a grand total of 19 nods, in such categories as Lyricist of the Year, MVP of the Year, Best Live Performer and Song of the Year.

Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa both tied for second place with nine nominations a piece, while Rick Ross has the chance of winning eight trophies. Busta Rhymes is close behind with six noms.

Nikki Minaj is the only female rapper to be nominated this year, landing noms for Lyricist of the Year, and CD of the Year for her breakthrough debut, Pink Friday.

The sixth annual BET Hip-Hop Awards will be taped at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta on October 1, and will air on BET on October 11th.

Actor/comedian Mike Epps will serve as host for the third year in a row.
