LIGHTS, CAMERA, AFRICA FILM FESTIVAL THIS OCTOBER!

The Life House’s film club, Reel Life, is holding its first ever film festival and the first ever collaboration project with the African Film Festival, New York and The Life House, Lagos.

The debut edition of ‘Lights, Camera, Africa!!!’ 2011, is a film festival showcasing some of the most exciting and original pieces of African cinema from within the continent and the Diaspora. The Film Festival will hold over the Nigerian Independence day holidays from Friday 30 September to Sunday 2 October 2011 at The Life House in Lagos. It promises to be an entertaining and refreshing cultural outing for all to enjoy – families and children included.

Lights, Camera, Africa!!! 2011 Film Festival is a not-for-profit event and attendance to this 3-day event is free.

African Film Festival, Inc promotes knowledge and understanding of African culture through the moving image. In addition, AFF works to expand opportunities for the distribution of African films in the United States and abroad.

The Life House is a Lagos, Nigeria based cultural and wellness center whose objective is to provide a nurturing environment for creative expression and be a catalyst for cultural rebirth in Nigeria. Since December 2009, The Life House has been at the fore-front of promoting a cultural renaissance in Nigeria by curating art, film, mixed media, music and theatre exhibitions.

Reel Life is the resident Film Club at The Life House and has been sharing and screening World, Classic and Independent Films free of charge and once a week since 2010 in the comfort of the ambient The Life House Lounge. The mission of Reel Life Film Club is to further the art and culture of film in Nigeria and the African content, by inspiring and championing the work of screenwriters, filmmakers, and all artists who use the language of film to tell a story.

Reel Life aims to promote community, education and cultural development through film. Furthermore, Reel Life has screened films by promising Nigerian film makers like Remi Vaughan-Richards, Akin Omotosho and Chika Anadu and is actively affliated with Alliance Francaise and iRep Film Festival on programming and theme development.
