Nigel Lythgoe’s Opening Act starts 6 October on E! in Africa

E! Entertainment’s new reality show Opening Act arrives in Africa in October following the show’s July premiere on E! in the US. Will start on Saturday 6 October at 20:00 on E! Entertainment (DStv 124).

The series has been created by Nigel Lythgoe (producer of Idol and creator of So You Think You Can Dance) and follows the search for different opening acts for high profile musicians.

Each week Lythgoe and the show’s mentors choose an unknown musician who they find online and then they put them through a process to prepare them to be an opening act. Those chosen haven’t auditioned for the show so there’s a surprise element for them when they get chosen.

The opening acts change from week to week, as do the acts they’re opening for. Musicians who they open include Rod Stewart (he headlines the premiere episode), Nicki Minaj, Aerosmith, Gym Class Heroes and Lady Gaga.

Keep a lookout on TM for the confirmed premiere date closer to the time. In the meantime, here’s a trailer – as you’ll see it doesn’t reveal much, but gives a basic idea of what it’s about:
