Meet Nkem Mathew Ikediashi – Architect, Environmentalist, Model and The Event Promoter

They call him Nkemmi – architect, environmentalist, Model and the event promoter. 

We introduce you to Nkem Mathew Ikediashi. He hails from Onicha north LGA of Delta state, Nigeria, but currently lives in the United Kingdom.

“I love my life and all the fun exciting things it includes, but I always want something more.”

Signed to Cliché’ Models UK while he was doing his PhD in Environmental Governance, Nkemmi plans on becoming an Environmentalist, but until then modelling is how he hopes to get his name out there.

“I love what I do and it always shows in my work. I believe in beauty in photography and I have a true love for art, however I don’t only do this for the hope of fame, but for the love of freedom to express.”

EDUCATION:
Nkemmi gained his first degree in Architecture Engineering from the University of Jos in 2010, then moved to England to do a master degree in Environmental pollution from Lancaster University, Lancaster, Lancashire, United Kingdom. So yes he is not just a pretty face and the typical party animal.

With a degree in Architectural Engineering, master in environmental pollution and currently on his PhD in Environmental Governance, one can say it’s right not to judge a book by its cover.

His research is designed to identify the major issues involved in the environmental regulation of oil spills in Nigeria; it seeks to examine the legislative methods adopted by the Nigerian government and the different approaches applied by the regulatory bodies. Hopefully it will mark a realisation of major evidence and footprints of government commitment to sustainable development in effective policing of the environment as it concerns oil spillage.

How did Nkemmi arrive at modelling? – Well, he started taking pictures and loved seeing himself in the camera. Sometimes he would dress up and people would say hmm, you totally should model. He says he thinks he his best known for his eyes and smile.

In 2011 he was contracted to be the face of a small Korean fashion outlet called Mirage. In an interview with WWD Kelly Springfeld 2011 for Mirage Models, she described Nkemmi’ as a boy version of Gisele [Bündchen]: skinny, but with an athletic body good for clothes and even better without clothes.

By the end of 2012, Nkemmi was signed to Cliché Models who has since been his representation. Cliché Models Management, established in 2012, is one of the North West’s top modelling agencies, representing the best models from across the spectrum of ethnicity.

During this time, he was also modelling for a number of fashion and retail companies, appearing in TV Ads and brochures and also made a cameo in Iyanya “Flavour” music video.

One of Nkemmi most recent works is being the brand image for Godsloveclothing, a UK based urban designer outfit interested spreading love and positivity on the streets through clothing.

“I’m very passionate about the work I do and what excitement it brings because it shows more of telling a story.”
