Mobile World Congress 2015: Meet the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL

Today on Day one of Mobile World Congress 2015, Microsoft introduced a new addition to the Lumia family: the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL, giving you a wealth of features out of the box at an affordable price.

Lumia 640 XL, perfect for both work and play, includes a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, and is loaded with Windows Phone 8.1 and the Lumia Denim Update, giving you access to great Windows features such as one-swipe Action Center, Word Flow and Live Folders.

The Lumia 640 XL will be upgradable to Windows 10, so that when it becomes available later in the year, you will be able to enjoy all the great benefits and features that Windows 10 has to offer.

Achieve and store more

Preinstalled on the device are Office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote are all at hand to help you get things done whenever and wherever you want.

Additionally, the Lumia 640 XL comes with a one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal, which includes the latest full installed versions of Office for the Lumia, as well as for one PC or Mac and one tablet (Windows, iPad or Android).

This subscription also includes 1 terabyte of storage on OneDrive and 60 minutes of Skype calling per month to landlines in over 60 countries and mobile phones in eight countries.

Even without the Office 365 subscription, OneDrive offers a lot of space: 15GB of free cloud storage is available right out of the box, with an additional 15GB available when you activate the automatic uploads from the camera roll.

Capture and see the details

Nestled in amongst the cyan, orange, white, or black polycarbonate body lies the 5.7-inch HD display–the perfect canvas for when you’re watching videos, enjoying your photos, playing games, or creating, editing and sharing documents. It also comes equipped with the popular Glance screen feature.

On the rear of the Lumia 640 XL sits a 13-megapixel camera with ZEISS optics and includes an LED flash, perfect for capturing the world in clear detail.

For those Skype calls or selfie shots, you’ll find the 5-megapixel wide-angle camera up front.

Not only does the Lumia 640 XL have exceptional photographic hardware, it’s also got some smart software by way of the faster and more intuitive Lumia Camera.

Keeps going as long as you do

Squeezed into the Lumia 640 XL is a 3000 mAh battery that’s capable of giving you up-to 23.7 hours of talk time (on 3G), and up-to 39 days of standby time.

In between calls, you’ll still have plenty of power left to play Candy Crush Saga and Minecraft: Pocket Edition or connect with friends and family via WhatsApp, LINE, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, and much more.

Lumia 640 XL will be available in single SIM and Smart Dual SIM variants, with a global rollout starting this March. It will be priced at EUR 189 for the 3G models and EUR 219 for the LTE model, before taxes and subsidies.
