Big Brother Naija Day 33: Timaya and Simi are bringing their all to Biggie’s stage this Sunday night

This Sunday night’s Live Eviction Show features singer, songwriter Simi from Surulere, Lagos first started out as a Gospel singer with her debut album “Ogaju.” Her career came into spotlight in 2014 after she released “Tiff.” In 2014, Simi signed to X3M Music and a year later  in 2015, she won the “Most Promising Act to Watch” category at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

Going from Afro Pop to Soul and RnB, this multitalented vocalist has gone from strength to strength and in early 2016, she released the hit “Love Don’t Care  a ballad received massive airplay. The song condemns the discrimination of love because of tribal and social prejudices.

Later on in the year, she was nominated in the Best Breakthrough Act category at the 2016 edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards. Then Simi collaborated with Falz to release Chemistry described as an “experiment of the word art”. In December 2016, Simi was nominated in three categories at The Headies 2016, winning one category.

Joining Simi on Biggie’s stage is Nigerian hip hop imresario, Timaya. He is the founder of South South hip hop group Dem Mama Soldiers. His solo career began in 2005 with the release of “Dem Mama”, which also appeared on his debut album, “True Story” released the following year. His second album Gift and Grace was released in 2008.

It was his third album “De Rebirth” that gained him even more prominence and the song “Plantain Boy” was very successful. After that he went back to his roots and collaborated on Dem Mama Soldiers on the album “LLNP (Long Life n Prosperity.) In 2012, Timaya released “Upgrade”, which spawned hits “Bum Bum”, “Sexy Ladies”, and “Malonogede.”

He has been nominated for and won many awards and is sure to satisy your thirst for a good solid party. He has collaborated with artists such as 2Face Idibia, TJ 2Solo, Allenian, Konga and Lanre. With his career going from strength to strength, he is sure to have the fans jumping in their seats at this Sunday’s Live Eviction Show.
