IAAF World U18 Championships live on SuperSport

After nine editions in which the world was introduced to the prodigious talents of Usain Bolt, Kenenisa Bekele, Vivian Cheruiyot, Yelena Isinbayeva and Allyson Felix, among others, the curtain will come down on the World Youth Championships in the tenth and final edition in Nairobi this week.

The five-day meeting, which starts on Wednesday, will be broadcast live on SuperSport 9 and Select which are available on the Premium, Compact Plus, Compact, Family and Access bouquets.

Having topped the medal standings twice before (Bydgoszcz ‘99 and Brixen ’09), hosts Kenya will want to make home advantage count to dethrone the USA, whom they finished runners-up to in Cali two years ago and on four other occasions.

South Africa, another continental heavyweight, is expected to give traditional sprint powerhouses, the USA and Jamaica, a run for their money in the men’s 100m and 200m. South Africa boasts the only sub-21 second 200m athlete in the championship, 17-year-old Retshiditswe Mlenga, who’ll be doubling up with the 100m.
