The official category list for this year’s Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards holding this December in Kampala, Uganda are now out!!!

This year the list are broken down into 2 main sections; Honorary and Competitive awards.

HONORARY AWARDS

Lifetime/ style Fashion Icon Achievement award

Celebrating an individual for their significant contribution to the fashion industry thus achieving icon status.

Previous recipients of this award include Sylvia Owori (2013), Santa Anzo (2014), Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth Bagaya (2015), all of whom are accomplished Ugandan Fashion Icons in Uganda. And the recent (2016) recipient South African Continental icon DavidTlale.

Humanitarian Award for Work in Fashion

This category seeks to recognize those individuals that have been able to use their positions in the fashion industry, to give back to the community and transform the livelihood of Africans, through different works and contributions.

Recipients of this award are chosen basing on their contribution to the growth and development of the African Continent, through their influence, philanthropist work, and achievements by representing Africa, here and abroad.

Outstanding Model of the year

Recognises a Male or Female model who has demonstrated outstanding influence beyond work (runway, editorial & commercial) during the past year.

Fashion Entrepreneur of the year (Uganda & Africa)

Recognising and celebrating an entrepreneur for the outstanding commercial success of their fashion business or personal brand.

COMPETITIVE AWARDS

Fashion Designer of the Year (Uganda & Africa

Recognises a Male/Female Individual who specializes in creating ready-to-wear garments or high fashion/haute couture garments for men and/or women.

Nominees for this category are selected basing on their brand populace, influence in the industry and their works done throughout the year.

Model of the year (Uganda & Africa)
Male & Female

Recognises a Male & Female model with advanced runway and/or print experience and presence, possess the skills and the look to make it to the top markets and major runway shows/ print ads in Africa and the world over.

Nominees should have well stated campaigns and runways done within the year of 2017.

PLEASE NOTE: This category has been revised, and it now caters for any model that fits the criteria, whether they have been in the industry for long or not.

Most Stylish/Dressed Celebrity (Uganda & Africa) Male & Female

Recognises individuals in the limelight that have a very outstanding sense of style, as observed from their public appearances and on their social media platforms.

Celebrities include; Famous persons, VIP, socialites, movie stars, sports personalities among others

Most Stylish Artiste (Uganda & Africa) Male & Female

A Male and Female music artiste who has displayed outstanding sartorial choices on and off duty during the year.

Best Dressed Media Personality (Uganda & Africa) Male & Female

A Male and Female media personality who has had exceptional personal style on and off duty during the year.

Fashionista of the year (Uganda & Africa) Male & Female

Recognises a Male & Female individual that have an impeccable sense of style, both on and off the limelight. The individual should be very influential, with their style, and very versatile, when it comes to their wardrobe choices.

Hair Stylist of the year (Uganda & Africa)

Recognises a Male/Female who specializes in “commercial” hair styling and dressing likely used for the following: television, bridal makeup, catalogue style print work, every day wear, and any other uses for hair styling. A well-documented detail of their year’s projects will be an added benefit.

Makeup artist of the year (Uganda & Africa)

Recognises a Male/Female who specializes in “commercial” style makeup, likely used for the following: television, bridal makeup, catalogue style print work, every day wear, and any other uses for commercial style makeup application. A well-documented detail of their 2017 projects will be an added benefit.

Fashion photographer of the year (Uganda & Africa)

Recognises a Male/Female individual that specializes in the genre of fashion, commercial or related photography.

Glamour, pin-up, runway, lingerie or related photography is an added advantage.

Fashionable Music Video of the year (Uganda & Africa)

Recognises a Music video that was released within the time line of 2017. Judgment is based on the wardrobe choices, video quality, and concepts used in the music video.

PLEASE NOTE: The award is given to both the Artiste and the Video Director of the music video chosen.

Stylist of the year (Uganda & Africa)

Recognises a Male/Female individual that coordinate the styling of women’s and/or men’s clothing and accessories used in Music videos, photography, runway presentations, Film, or events appearances.

Fashion Blogger/ Writer of the year (Uganda & Africa)

Recognises a journalist, or blogger in the field of fashion, style and beauty. Their area of specialty could vary from, print, to broadcast.

Individuals nominated in this category as bloggers should have a well documented, very trendy and up to date fashion blog, and a great social media following as well.

Best Dressed on the Red Carpet

Recognizes an Individual with the best look of the night at the annual celebration of fashion. Individuals could be a celebrity or any guest.
