EVENT: Windhoek Fashion Week returns for a third edition | 6th to 10th November, 2018
Windhoek Fashion Week objectives are to foster the culture of supporting local brands and promoting proudly made in Africa products.
Fashion Week is a industry event aimed at bringing together different fashion industry related individuals such as; fashion designers, brands, models, show producers, photographers, stylists, hair & makeup artists, jeweler / crafters come together to showcase their latest collection on different runway shows. Buyers, customers, media and public have the opportunity to experience these latest trends at this platform.
This year 35 international and local designers will be showcasing over 3 days of runway. Windhoek fashion week will open up on the 5th November 2018 with Fashion Talks which will be hosted by the Fashion Council of Namibia and Goethe institute whereby they will be bringing in Dimeji Alara (Elle Magazine – Fashion Director) and Josephine Barbe which will be focused on Fashion Trends and African Markets.
Other fashion focused talks that will happen on the 7th November is being hosted by Vaultz Connect Magazine and Zeronine will be hosted at Unam Main Campus. Simply You Magazine will be hosting the official welcoming cocktail party for fashion week for industry professionals and fashion lovers.
This year House of Poulton by Melisa Poulton will kick off the runway shows for fashion week as this show will be an offsite event on the 8th November. As for the main shows, the organizing committee this year decided to partner up with Street Cuisine and Confab Bistro to host some of the shows of WFW.
This will see College of the Arts Graduates do an exhibition style showcase at Street Cuisine which will start at 17h30 on Friday the 9th November, this gives an opportunity to fashion graduates to showcase their talent at the biggest fashion event in Namibia. Confab Bistro (Rooftop) will play host to upcoming Fashions brands/Designers on the 9th November as from 19H00 which is also the last show for the night. The night will end of with a free fashion soirée at Capello being hosted by Reinhard Mahalie, Jay Aeron and Rumano Fabrishh.
Saturday will be a jam packed show as the emerging and established designers will be taking centre stage on the runway at the Nampower Convention Centre. The shows will start at 19H30 and end with Maria Nepembe. This day will see a mixture of local and international heavy weights in the industry showcasing their skill.
Windhoek fashion week 2018 is being supported by NDTC and other partners to ensure that the show continues.
