VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Ganjaman FT. Kayode Fatoba – Malowo
As the main artist of Ekiti Boys(EBM) Ganjaman has a lot to prove after his first track Soji gained a bit of local and international buzz with Davido being seen to have connections with Kayode in some way. From Ekiti State Television to VancityBuzz, the emergence of Ganjaman into the music industry garnered community support.
While it may have taken a year to drop a second visual, Ganjaman is focused on making a statement that he’s here to stay and an artist to watch out for! The thing is, to really make a noise across Nigeria most artists move to Lagos, but as the Ekiti Boys believe, they want to use their sound to promote their own community, their goal is to gain the attention of the industry by producing their own sound out of Ekiti. Malowo is about being proud of your heritage and investing in the development of your community!
The visual is raw and well put together as well. While Kayode might be a new name in Afrobeats, his Rap is short and hype but not enough. We want more! According to Ganjaman, Malowo is meant to drive home a message to Nigerians and Africans alike living overseas but don’t often want to travel back him, that there’s opportunities at home as well and that their support can ultimately improve the communities they left behind.
The track is meant to promote a sense of responsibility for those who have travelled out not to forget where they came from! Unlike Soji, Kayode speaks Yoruba faintly in this track with the only reference being the line “wan yi mu si mi”, to him, his Yoruba heritage and Canadian upbringing are part of what he’s really trying to integrate into his sound as an artist.
While the artist and director had little say, he did hint at a potential album in the works. With EBM set to officially launch in 2017, Ganjaman wants the community to know he’s not going anywhere.
The audio which was released through Talk Media Africa has been reshared over 400 times with over 5,000 streams on Soundcloud already and this is within a couple of weeks. With our team stumbling on this track and realizing these are emerging talents, we wanted to be the first to bring you brand their music video out so check out Malowo.
Don’t forget to share and support these new artists!
