Huawei reveals the P10 and P10 Plus – World’s first 4.5G smartphone

Huawei revealed its P10 and P10 Plus smartphones at Mobile World Congress.

The P10 features a 5.1-inch 1080p display, while the P10 Plus sports a 5.5-inch screen with a WQHD resolution.

The devices are powered by a Kirin 960 chipset and support dual-SIM functionality.

The P10 has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while the P10 Plus features 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Both smartphones can expand their storage through a MicroSD card.

Huawei said the phones also feature Ultra Memory, which automatically defragments storage and compresses files based on their usage.

The hardware is powered by a 3,200mAh battery in the P10, and a 3,750mAh unit in the P10 Plus.

In terms of connectivity improvements, Huawei said the P10 uses four antennas to support 4.5G functionality – giving users faster data speeds while reducing “weak signal” problems.

The phone also uses a dual-antenna for its Wi-Fi system, which the company said provides better coverage for users.

Diamond-cutting technology

Huawei said it used new “diamond-cutting” technology for the metal body of the P10, which means the device will not scratch, nor will you leave fingerprint marks on the smartphone when touching it.

The new design features an array of colours, including green, blue, and black.

Huawei also punted the P10’s new camera as a standout feature.

The P10 features a Leica Dual-Camera 2.0, while the P10 Plus features a Leica Dual-Camera 2.0 Pro edition. The rear unit sports a 20MP monochrome sensor and a 12MP sensor for colours.

A fingerprint reader and the Android OS with EMUI 5.1 also come standard with the devices.
