Come Dine With Me South Africa: Applications are now open

BBC Worldwide has confirmed, that after a three-year break, a new series of the critically-acclaimed ratings hit Come Dine With Me South Africa will be coming to BBC Lifestyle. The ITV Studios Global Entertainment format has been commissioned in partnership with the award winning, Johannesburg based production company Rapid Blue and demonstrates BBC Worldwide’s on-going commitment to providing high quality original productions for its audiences in South Africa.

The first three series of the SAFTA winning dining competition have become firm favourites with audiences up and down the country. Each episode follows four total strangers as they step into each other’s homes with the hope of being wined, dined and entertained and also stand the chance of winning R10,000. When filming starts later this year, the new series aspires to be bolder, bigger and better than ever.

In the search for South Africa’s top hosts with the most, episodes will be filmed in four different cities: Cape TownDurbanJohannesburg and Port Elizabeth. Applications to become a contestant are now open to South African residents and information on how to apply can be found at www.bbcsouthafrica.com The application process will close on Sunday 6th  August 2017 ahead of the 12-part series premiering on BBC Lifestyle in early 2018.

Joel Churcher, General Manager and Vice President Africa, BBC Worldwide says, “Come Dine With Me South Africa quickly established itself as a South African sensation, taking us into the dining rooms of some of the country’s most intriguing characters. I’m pleased that BBC Lifestyle is joining forces with Rapid Blue once more to offer a distinctly South African take on a hugely popular international format.”

The series is commissioned by Kirsty Hanson, Commissioning Editor, BBC Worldwide who commented, “BBC Worldwide is dedicated to bringing shows that delight and entertain our audiences across the globe. The Come Dine With Me format has proved to be a consistent hit and we are very excited to cast the hopeful contestants for series four and showcase all of the vibrant, fun and vivacious personalities found in South Africa.”

Come Dine With Me is now produced in 34 countries including Germany, France and Australia, proving a returning staple for many international broadcasters. Come Dine With Me South Africa was the first local commission from BBC Worldwide for its channels in the EMEA region, and debuted in South Africa in 2011. The first three series have been huge ratings hits and in 2013 the programme won a Best International Format Show Award at the 7th Annual South African Film and Television Awards 2013 (SAFTAs).
