VIDEO: Cashh – Ride or Die
The strength of this new record: it feels like a rebirth. It feels like something new and something fresh. – Mistajam
Cashh, formerly Cashtastic, makes a welcome and inspiring return to the UK music scene with his new single ‘Ride Or Die’. Fresh off it’s #JamHot premiere with Mistajam on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Cashh called in live to the show for an in-depth interview about his personal and musical journey, which has led him to open not just a new chapter, but a new book.
Growing up in the UK, Cashh celebrated great commercial success, signing his publishing to Universal, performing and collaborating with artists including Wiley, Stylo G, Krept & Konan and Ghetts, performing at the venues such as Wembley and leaving his undeniable imprint online through a series of freestyles on iconic platforms including Charlie Sloth’s ‘Fire In The Booth’ and SBTV’s F64.
In March 2014 Cashh was removed from the UK back to his birth country of Jamaica. The news spearheaded major national media interest and petitioning to the UK Government with his peers, such as Kano, speaking out about the situation. However perseverance is something that Cashh is atoned to and it is here that he has begun his new journey, continuing his quest in his career and reinventing himself in growth, both personally and professionally.
‘Ride Or Die’ has clear influence of his motherland ringing from its very substance. Laid back Caribbean tones meet the soul and emotion of the deeply rooted ad-libs, whist Cashh preserves his UK connections through his accented lyrics. The track melts away in to your imagination drawing pictures of beaches and palms, painting scenes of sun filled afternoons shared with loved ones.
Returning as a brand new artist, Cashh has already recorded follow up records with some of the world’s most exciting talent. Collaborations include Moelogo, Geko and Dre Island, laying testimony to Cash’s determination, which has assured that no matter where he is, he will deliver great music.
Enjoy!
