Eritrea

Originally born in Canada Shannon Ogbani Abedi will be representing Eritrea. The 21-year-old will be making history as the first competitor to ever represent Eritrea at the Winter Olympics. A knee injury kept Shannon Ogbani Abedi out of action in 2016, he will be eager to perform at PyeongChang.

Kenya

Having started skiing at the tender age of three is Kenya’s Sabrina Simader who will be participating in the Ladies’ Alpine Skiing event. After brilliant performances at 2017 World Champions and the World Cup, she crowned Sportswoman of the Year at the 2017 Women in Europe Awards.

Togo

The West African country of Togo has deployed two athletes to represent them at the Winter Olympics 2018 in Alessia Afi Dipol (who will be participating in the Women’s Giant Slalom event), Mathilde – Amivi Petitjean will be looking to make her mark in the Cross-Country Skiing events (Women’s Sprint and Women’s 10km freestyle).

Nigeria

The talk of the continent has been the two-woman Bobsleigh team which consist of Seun Adigun and Akuma Omega. The Nigerians alongside Simidele Adeagbo (who will be taking part in the Women’s Skeleton) will become the first delegation to make it the Winter Olympics.

Seun Adigun is no stranger in the international sport, she represented Nigeria in 100m hurdles at the 2012 Olympics Games in London.

Madagascar

Mialitiana Clerc will be bringing Island vibes in the freezing weather of PyeongChang in the Women’s Giant Slalom and Women’s slalom. The 16-year-old participated in the 2018 Junior World Championships and is a great prospect for the  2022 Winter Games in Beijing.
