#BBNaija Lockdown Day 22 – Erica new HoH picks Kiddwaya as her Deputy, A Wager for the Country and more…

Erica

In today’s HoH challenge was a bit different. The housemates were given a minute and 10 seconds to complete the challenge, unlike the usual 2 minutes.

Prince was a step away from winning the challenge with Erica being the only housemate yet to take the challenge.

Kiddwaya

Erica took the challenge but was a bit distracted by the housemate while trying to move through the steps. At the end of the game, Biggie declared her the winner of the contest. With this victory, she is now immune to eviction this week and she now has exclusive access to the HoH lounge.

Then, the very big decision for her was choosing her deputy.

Erica nominated Kiddwaya as her deputy head of house which means she will have to share the HoH luxury lounge with him for the week. She picked Laycon as her second option while Praise as her third option.

A Wager for the Country

This week’s Wager will bring out what the Housemates know about their country, and is sure to be fun and educational.

Every week the Housemates get a new wager, we have followed through the last three weeks and witnessed their great celebration and successes as well as their low lows. Each week we follow our faves as they navigate the world of performing to Biggie to get prizes and pamper sessions.

The very first Wager was a loss as the Housemates proved to Biggie that they did not get to know each other well enough for the Task at Hand.

The second wager required the Housemates to present a circus to Biggie, where again, they failed to garner points for the night.

The third wager was a huge high as the Housemates enjoyed developing their presentation and executing it. It was a great win for the Housemates and of course, the rewards were welcome!

The Task

This week the Housemates have been Tasked with presentations that will not only show how much they know about the country but also how much they know about gender based violence (GBV), which is not only topical but very serious the world over. The task is two-fold: Part one is to create and present fun facts on Nigeria. Part two is to create a ‘No means no’ Campaign that will be presented as the Housemates see fit.

The brief from Biggie instantly sparked conversation amongst the Housemates about Nigeria. Prince, Trikytee, Laycon, Lucy and Dorathy rose to the occasion, dropping facts on facts on facts about Nigeria. Hopefully this will be a winning Task once again. The team started at the very beginning discussing what they know about Nigeria, and eventually arrived at a very important question: ‘What is a ‘fun fact’? They did not stay on that issue for too long however, they moved on very quickly looking into the facts that they know about the country.

Here are some of the facts that the Housemates dropped during their interactions:

  • Nigeria has three main local languages, Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo
  • In 1914, the Northern and Southern Nigerian Protectorates were joined to form the single colony of Nigeria
  • There are over 700 language but only 3 are recognized as local languages and English as the 4th official language
  • We are in the 4th Republic
  • The Wall of Benin took almost 600,000 man-hours to build and is the biggest man-made structure ever built by man, and at its peak, it was three times longer than the Great Wall of China
  • The Argungu festival is the largest fishing festival in the world

On the issue of Gender Based Violence, the team dove deep into their opinions on Gender Based Violence as a whole, making sure that they understood what they were talking about to begin with. The issue is quite sensitive. Ozo, Vee, Prince, Laycon, Lucy, Dorathy, Kiddway and Trikytee were very vocal on the topic. The group related to many issues that contribute to GBV in general, such as upbringing, religion, education and peers. It is very clear this will be a topic that the Housemates speak about at length through the day and coming week. One decision that was made during the discussion is that Trikytee will be directing their presentation once again. He has clearly proven himself a worthy director to his Housemates, and no doubt he will do well.
