AUDIO: CÓCÒA – Original Stepper
Fast rising Afropop singer/songwriter CÓCÒA also know as The Orixa is back again with a new release titled “Original Stepper” and it’s the second single off her upcoming EP. This dance floor filler, with its energetic tempo inspired by traditional Yoruba drums (gbedu) from talented producer The Kínnsmàn creates an afro-futuristic vibe that is bound to make you move. ‘Drawing from Yoruba Opera by the likes of Duro Ladipo and Hubert Ogunde who were very prominent playwright in the 1940s, ‘Thẹ́ Kínnsmàn explains,’ I composed something contemporary that has a modern edge to it which CÓCÒA could flow on.’
The track also shows off CÓCÒA’s versatility as she effortlessly switches from sultry vocals to dropping rhythmic bars. ‘Original Stepper was very interesting to write because it took me out of my comfort zone.’ CÓCÒA says. ‘I don’t usually rap but working on this track allowed me to explore other areas of my creativity.’
CÓCÒA is that eclectic Afropop artist with song vibrations that pull you in deep. After the release of her first single HigH (Lókè Lókè) in October 2021, the singer received media buzz as well as radio attention from the likes of BBC Music UK, which led to HigH (Lókè Lókè) debuting on British airwaves. This follow up track, Original Stepper, has already been well received by herfans. Original Stepper completely drips in new age afrobeat swag. CÓCÒA & Thẹ́ Kínnsmàn just launched a Celestial House Party! Available on all major platforms.
