SPOTLIGHT ALERT: INTRODUCING LUNI

LUNI (pronounced “loony”) is an acronym for “Like you never imagined”. It is the name of this Lagos-bred, Benin-born Nigerian rapper. What probably stands him out from the crowd is his distinct delivery and witty, intelligent lyrics.

Beginning as a young teen clumsily mimicking Tupac in the privacy of his living room while struggling to recite the lyrics, his love for rap music grew deeper and with that the list of rappers added to his daily menu of hip-hop. This list included hip-hop greats Biggy, Jay-z and Nas. He began to pencil down his own songs and developed an acute sense of lyricism. He began recording his own music in 2001.

He went on to university where he blossomed into a truly prolific rhyme junkie then rapping under the alias “Thrill” and performing on a few major shows which include “Music Talk”. He later became known as LUNI in his final year.

With a single “Lakuli” gnared great reviews from from fan and his fast becoming a street anthem, LUNI jumps on a brand new track “One Thing Two”. The song has a fusion of Afro pop and techno orientation and is produced by young and upcoming producer Antwone who is just 19. As usual, LUNI shows off wit, a deep sense of lyricism and great ease rapping on a genre where most certified rappers dread. “One Thing Two” is a club banger anytime, any day and anywhere.

Luni is fresh to the scene after doing some underground successes. He had the crowd at the Classic Djs event hosted by Dj Humility at Elegushi on Jan. 1st, 2012, ElDee and Friends at Swe Bar in October last year with almost all industry big wigs present as well as many more events by the way.

Luni is ready to officially launch is career and let the Nigeria people and Africa feel his music.
