SOURCE: TheNETng
After the much talk about launching a franchise in Nigeria, OK! Magazine was unveiled on Friday, March 9, 2012 at a glamorous black tie event sponsored by telecoms company MTN.
The launch saw the unveiling of the first issue with high profile celebrities invited from music, fashion, sport, film and politics. There were performances by artistes M.I, Brymo, Davido, Goldie and Naeto C amongst others followed by an exclusive after party at Likwid after what was an exciting evening.
The magazine was not available at the launch, but some celebs, including Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde (who appears with her husband Matthew on the debut cover) say she’s seen a copy. The full debut edition is also available on the magazine’s website. Cover subjects for the debut edition include Oprah Winfrey (‘Still the richest black woman in the world’), Natasha Ighodaro and Nick Cunningham (‘Our perfect day’), The hottest power couples (‘Jay Z and Beyonce, Omotola Jalade and Captain Matthew Ekeinde’), Tinie Tempah, Wizkid and Wale (‘Young, Gifted and Nigerian).
To be published in Nigeria but printed in the UK, OK! Nigeria will hit newsstands on April 1, 2012 and costs N1500. Readers throughout the world can also subscribe to the magazine. The publishers say it will also be available online.
Also, platinum sponsor MTN will have content of OK! Nigeria available exclusively to its 40 million plus subscribers for a year. The magazine will be available on IPads, IPhones, Blackberry, Samsung galaxy and many other devices globally and in Nigeria only on MTN from April 1.
We’re told OK! Nigeria will be published monthly and content will be 60 per cent on Nigerian celebrities globally, with 20 per cent of that 60 per cent about Nigerian celebrities based in Nigeria. The remaining 40 per cent is divided into 30 per cent African American celebrities and the remaining 10 per cent will be about people we love to read about.
