The Comedy Awards 2012 Airs May 13 on Comedy Central Africa

Comedy Central’s annual awards ceremony will be honoring the best in comedy this May. South Park is in the running for best Animated Comedy Series against Archer, Family Guy, The Life and Times of Tim and The Simpsons. South Park was voted best Animated Comedy in 2011.

Saturday Night Live’s Kristen Wiig will be championing her 2011 win in the category for Performance By An Actress against the likes of 30 Rock’s “leading lady” Tina Fey.

The Late Night Comedy Series nod went to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in 2011. In 2012, The Daily Show is in the running again, along with The Colbert Report.

Other nominations include Saturday Night Live for Sketch/Alternative Comedy Series and best Comedy Writing.

Comedy Central Africa will be airing the Comedy Awards on 13 May at 7:30pm WAT (repeats on Monday 14 May @ 9:40pm WAT and Saturday 20 May @ 7:30pm WAT), on (DStv channel 122).
