A movie for every mood, as M-Net expands movie offerings with 6 new channels

DStv audiences across are set to get more movie magic as entertainment powerhouse M-Net embarks on an exciting new chapter! From Monday 1 October 2012, the M-Net movie offering on DStv will be expanding to include eight genre-themed movie channels.

The 8 movie channels are themed according to movie type and will include M-Net Movies Premiere, M-Net Movies Comedy, M-Net Movies Family, M-Net Movies Action Plus, M-Net Movies Drama & Romance and M-Net Movies Showcase. Rounding off the M-Net movie line-up are M-Net Movies Action (previously M-Net Action) and M-Net Movies Stars (previously M-Net Stars).  

With the tagline A Movie for Every Moodaudiences can now be assured of a wider choice of the best possible selection of available movies anytime of the day.

This marks a significant evolution in M-Net’s movie line-up that currently encompasses only 2 generic movie channels. The new range of movie channels, which debuts in October, is specifically designed to ensure easy navigation for audiences so they know just where to find their favourite type of movie.

  • M-Net Movies Premiere (DStv Channel 103):  This where you can find the freshest movies appearing on television for the first time. 5 new movies will be screened every weekend on M-Net Movies Premiere and kicking off every weekend on a Friday is 4 of the 5 blockbusters.
  • If you like your comedies with a little romance, drama or with slapstick humour, M-Net Movies Comedy (DStv Channel 104) will have you laughing out loud. 
  • M-Net Movies Family (DStv Channel 105) is the destination for wholesome entertainment for all ages, featuring animation, musicals, fantasy and feel-good family movies will keep both kids and the young at heart engrossed all day.
  • Viewers can expect a host of blockbuster movies from Action to Westerns, Horror and Sci-Fi onM-Net Movies Action Plus (DStv Channel 106).
  • There is also M-Net Movies Drama & Romance (DStv Channel 107) for those who prefer biographies, thrillers, documentaries and war movies. 
  • M-Net Movies Showcase (DStv Channel 108) shines the spotlight on specific movies and directors with exciting festivals, themes and box sets. In addition, viewers get to take control and recommend movies with a special viewer’s choice.

(MM1 and MM2 will be replaced with the 6 themed movie channels above)

  • All things action will be available on M-Net Movies Action (DStv Channel 110, previously M-Net Action).
  • And M-Net Movies Stars (DStv Channel 111, previously M-Net Stars) is the channel for young and old alike. It features modern greats and movie favourites from past and present across a variety of genres from comedy to drama and romance.

PLUS: From the month of October, viewers can look forward to festivals, themed evenings and a viewer’s choice on selected nights across all the channels.

    I would like to thank MNET for all the upgrades,
    but am concerned about other exciting channels that
    South Africa is not receiving, like channel 128 and 145.
    We really enjoy watching West African Movies and
    the movies currently shown on 114 and 115 are way
    too old. Hence I believe we(SA) should be able to watch 128
    and 145 as the new movies are shown in those channels.

      You will be getting in South Africa AfricaMagic Entertainemnt (DStv channel 128) and AfricaMagic Movies 1 (DStv Channel 145) from October 1st, 2012.
