MTN Project Fame Nomination show Day 39: The Last Seven Standing Thrills West Africa!

With last night’s “surprise Twist” of the use of the judge’s power of recall, which in a dramatic turn witnessed the re-admission of Ella back into the academy, and bringing the number of contestants back to seven instead of six, the competition took another beautiful dimension.

Live in the studio was Tolu Oniru aka Toolz, the award winning radio presenter of Beat FM who was in the Academy earlier in the week on a mentoring session and on the show as a guest judge. Adora and Joseph looked very snazzy and in top spirits as they ushered in the last seven standing to perform a medley of Marvin Gaye’s hits in honour of this music legend.

The evening show can be perfectly tagged a night of double-dose as they all did two different genres of music each. The first part of the competition witnessed all the contestants singing different raggae mega-hits. Before the contestants started off, Monica’s maiden video which she titled ‘Body Hug’ was launched on the show. A beautiful piece by the season 4 winner. Catch the video live soon on our youtube channel (projectfametv): whose turn will it be this year?Hmmm…

To continue in the spirit of the evening was Musulyn, opening the floor with ‘Just A Li’L Bit Longer’ by Maxi Priest. Next was Christian with a smooth delivery of ‘She Don’t Let Nobody’ by Chaka Demus. Ayo again blew everyone away with Shaggy’s ‘Angel’, and the very fortunate Ella who came home with Evi Edna Ogoli’s ‘Obaro’. Next was Oyinkansade doing ‘Hold Ya’ by Gyptian, and then was Adetoun performing Bob Marley’s ‘One Drop’.

Finally for the first phase was Marvellous who marveled everyone with his guitar singing ‘Holy Spirit’ by Majek Fashek. It was a thorough upping of game as everyone gave him a marvellous ovation!

And that was it for the reggae fever and on we went to the dance! dance!! dance!!! session. Musulyn again opened the floor, dressed in the part she did a very good one with Christina Aguilera’s ‘Lady Marmalade’, Christian also pulled a nice one with Bobby Brown’s ‘Every Li’l Step’. Ayo, dressed like the 80’s wowed every one with Rick James’ ‘Give It To Me’, so also was Ella with her shinning yellow jacket dazzled everyone with ‘Love On Top’ by Beyonce. Oyinkansade also did Mac Band’s ‘Roses Are Red’. Pretty Adetoun stopped at nothing tonight with Katty Perry’s ‘Fireworks’. It was indeed a smooth performance, and finally Marvellous again thrilled everyone with his acts. He combined Stevie Wonder’s mild aggression, James Brown’s act and the ‘spirituality’ of the negro-spiritual as he did justice to ‘Yes’ by Stevie Wonder….WOW!

After all said and done the judges said Marvellous, Ayo and Ella did it for them but felt Oyinkansade still has more work to do. Now, the fate of the contestants is solely in your hands as the winner will be the determined by the highest number of votes, so keep voting and voting as much as you can as your favourite contestant thrill you till he/she emerges as the winner!
