2012: The Final Prophecy
Sunday 25th November at 9pm WAT
Armageddon Days are almost here, that is if you believe in the Mayan peoples’ prophecies. “2012 Countdown to Armageddon” takes a closer look at the ancient Maya prophecies that, according to some, predict the end of the world on December 21st, 2012. Despite their great civilization long lost and their legacy shrouded in mystery, the Maya calendar and the end of its Great Cycle has not been forgotten and is regaining people’s attention as the clock ticks down to what might be our last year on earth.
Adam Maloof, a young geologist from Princeton University, sets out on an epic quest around the planet to uncover the truth behind the myth. It starts with his work on the geological phenomenon of pole shifting which has long been tied to the Maya prophecies as a probable cause for apocalyptic natural disasters. In order to learn more about the Maya and what inspired their doomsday predictions, Maloof travels right to the heart of what was one of the mightiest Maya cities ever built: Chichén Itzá in Mexico. Will the Mayan people end up being The Grinch that Stole Christmas in 2012? Find out as the countdown continues…
