DStv launches Blackbelt TV & True Movies November 13

After the launch of the M-Net movie channels in October, DStv will be launching two more entertainment channels, Blackbelt TV and True Movies 1 on Tuesday, 13 November.

The channels will be available on DStv Access, Family, Compact, Compact Plus (where available) and Premium.

Blackbelt TV is a 24-hour martial arts television network airing martial arts fights, series, movies and animé and will be available on DStv channel 129. The channel will feature classic martial arts movies, great Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fights from around the globe and MMA lifestyle oriented interviews from Hollywood.

Programming will include the screening of 3 Rounds With, a half hour interview show where stars stop by in a fun, casual way and talk entertainment and combat sports.

Guests will include director Brett Ratner, actors John Cusack and Jackie Chan, and warriors like Evander Holyfield, Dolph Lundgren, and Manny Pacquiao.

Additionally, viewers will see Kung Fu movies. Films will include Drunken Master Slippery SnakeFists of DragonsShaolin Fox Conspiracy and Ninja the Protector and feature fight choreography from the great Chinese masters.

DStv is also launching True Movies 1, as a welcome addition to its already impressive array of movie channels. 

This unique film channel is dedicated to delivering a powerful mix of remarkable true stories based on real people and actual events, 24 hours a day.

With performances from a wide range of A-list Hollywood stars from Meryl Streep and Glenn Close to Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie, True Movies 1 features a diverse and emotional blend of award winning content from family relationship dramas, teen pregnancies and missing children to corruption, murder and miscarriages of justice.

Launching on DStv Channel 138, True Movies 1 will draw from its extensive catalogue of true movies and true-to-life dramas to bring viewers a gripping schedule of weekly premieres, morning movies and themed days.

Upcoming highlights include: Tear Jerker Day – a poignant selection of emotional movies including First Do No Harm, the powerful true story of a mother’s fight for her epileptic son’s right to treatment (starring multi Academy Award winning actress Meryl Streep) and the heart-wrenching Trail of Tears about two women from different backgrounds, united in their shared pain after their husbands kidnap their children.

Other highlights include True Crime Day – a collection of movies based on shocking real life crimes such asDeath of a Cheerleader and Dangerous Child.
