The 2012 Channel O Music Video Awards will also be broadcast live on Channel O, making sure fans throughout the continent get a taste of the magic that Bonang and Ice Prince are set to bring to this year’s event – as well as the many unique live performances that are lined up.

From Botswana rapper Zeus to Nigeria’s Mo Cheddah, multi-nominees Khuli Chana (SA) and Campa Mulla (Kenya), M.anifest (Ghana), Pro, Mi Casa, DJ Zinhle, Bucie and many more, the 9th Annual Channel O Music Video Awards, brought to you by DStv and DStv Mobile, are set to sizzle.

The owner of Bonang Matheba Entertainment, newly named host of Clash Of The Choirs South Africa (which is coming to Mzansi Magic) and radio personality, there’s no end to the talents of the multi-faceted Queen B. Already an accomplished host of a head-spinning array of live events – including the Sunday Times Generation Next Awards, The GQ Best Dressed Men Of The Year Awards, AFI Africa Fashion Awards, the Trey Songz Concert, and the 50 Cent and G-Unit Concert – Bonang is also fashionably forward. She was named Glamour Woman Of The Year in 2012 and is set to launch her own fragrance, Just B* by Bonang – the sure sign of someone who has made it.

“Hosting an awards ceremony of this magnitude is a first for me and a great honour. The Channel O Music Video Awards will be broadcast to over 40 African countries so you can only imagine how excited I am. I’m really honoured to be part of it; this year’s show is going to be massive. The production and execution is going to blow our guests away. So let’s meet on Saturday 17, November at 20:00 as we take Africa to the future,” says Bonang.

Holding it down for the males on the night is Nigerian, Panshak Zamani – popularly known as Ice Prince. He began writing music in 1998 and later formed a group with a couple of his friends called the Ecomog Squad. They had a few performances as a group and split a year later. Fast forward to the present, the Jos-raised artist has become a bonafide solo star across the continent over the past few years, primarily driven by the mega hit “Oleku”.

The song, featuring Brymo, saw Ice Prince win Most Gifted Newcomer Video at the 8th Annual Channel O Music Video Awards – and his current chart-toppers “Superstar” and “Magician (Remix)” featuring Gyptian have seen the artist earn a nomination for Most Gifted Hip Hop Video as well as Most Gifted Ragga Dancehall Video, respectively this year.

“I feel really honoured and super excited, I think I am more excited than anyone who has ever hosted/co-hosted the show because it’s a huge privilege to be hosting the biggest award show in Africa,” says Ice Prince.

Tickets to the 2012 Channel O Music Video Awards cost R50 and are currently available from Computicket.

The 2012 Channel O Music Video Awards will be broadcast live at 20:00 on Channel O –  DStv Channel 320 –  from Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown, Soweto.
