ESPN International expands MMA offering

ESPN International has renewed its multi-platform broadcast deal with London-based Cage Warriors Fighting Championship (CWFC).

Under terms of the extended agreement, which will run until 2014, coverage of mixed martial arts promotion’s event will cotninue to be shown on ESPN television networks in territories around the world, including Africa, the Middle East, the Pacific Rim and the Caribbean.

Additionally CWFC events will be broadcast in Latin America via ESPN’s broadband platform.

The two parties began their relationship earlier in the year with a deal that covered all CWFC events staged in 2012.

“This year has been the biggest in the ten-year history of Cage Warriors and we’re delighted that our events have been shown in so many parts of the world thanks to the success of our relationship with ESPN International,” said Cage Warriors chief executive Graham Boylan. “We believe we have an outstanding product so we obviously want as many people as possible to enjoy that product from the comfort of their own homes, especially as the appetite for MMA continues to grow across the globe. Cage Warriors is only going to get bigger and better over the coming months, as we have done in 2012, so I’m pleased that ESPN International will be there to bring that continued growth to their viewers over the next two years. The best is still to come.”

According to an official press release, 19 CWFC events are planned in 2013.
