Nigeria’s Timomatic joins Australia’s Got Talent as a judge

Timomatic, Australia's Got Talent

Singer / Dancer Timomatic has been named as the third judge to join Australia’s Got Talent. Timomatic will join the Brit brigade of Mel Brown and Dawn French as a judge on Channel 9’s reboot of the star search series.

The likeable hip hop/pop sensation has made every step a winner since rocketing to the finals of the 2011 season of AGT on Seven, which had, in turn, built on the TV start he was given as a contestant on Ten’s So You Think You Can Dance competition two years earlier.

Nigerian-born Tim Omaji has since leveraged his small screen fan base into an impressive recording career, after being signed to Sony Music which backed his triple-platinum debut single, Set It Off, scoring the singer-songwriter his first ARIA nomination for Song Of The Year.

In a massive coup which launched him to an international audience, Omaji received global press and rave reviews for his performance of his launch track during the final rounds of Donald Trump’s 2012 Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas.

Joining the new-look AGT, Omaji said he was “so honoured and excited to be invited to be a judge.

“This show has been a massive pinnacle in my career to date and I can’t wait to share this opportunity with Australia’s next superstars!”

Nine’s head of television Michael Healy said his inclusion would “complement” the judging talent already announced – with speculation the final place on the panel will be taken by shock jock Kyle Sandilands.

A Nine spokeswoman would not be drawn on rumours the Austereo breakfast host had been included as a way of tapping into his radio audience and maintain a link to the show’s fan base when it aired on rival Channel 7.
