CSI vs CSI New York, the ultimate face-off on M-Net

CSIS13_BB

Do you feel like you are having CSI withdrawal symptoms and just wish you could get your weekly dose again? You’re in luck because M-Net is giving you a double dose of the crime drama starting this week with CSI S13 on Wed 15 May at 10:30pm WAT and CSI New York S9 on Thu 16 May at 10:30pm WAT.

To usher in new seasons of the two new shows where sin never sleeps, we have decided to create the ultimate face-off: CSI vs CSI New York.

Reasons to love CSI
CSI put forensic investigation dramas on the map; its popularity gave rise to many other crime dramas in the early 2000s. It has even been recognized as the most popular drama series internationally by Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo. CSI led to two spin-offs: CSI New Yorkand CSI Miami.

What happens in Vegas
Las Vegas is called Sin City for a reason and CSI brings out the best (or worst) in its Las Vegas location. The show has had a man killed by dinosaur teeth in a museum, a dominatrix murderer and the CSIs even investigated the behind-the-scenes action of Cirque du Soleil in Season 7.

Star-studded cast
CSI’s impressive list of lead characters over the years has helped the show stay ahead of the rest, starting with the original CSI supervisor Dr. Gil Grissom who led the original cast, to Dr. Ray Langston (played by Laurance Fishburne) who had a dark side to him and current supervisor DB Russell played by Ted Danson. Even Justin Bieber made a memorable appearance.

Extended story lines
CSI has had some of television’s most spell-binding story lines that have lasted over multiple seasons. The most notorious of these was the feud between Dr. Ray Langston and serial killer Nate Heskell that started in the Season 10 finale where Heskell stabbed Langston. The feud ended in Season 11 with Langston unleashing his dark side to defeat his nemesis.

Reasons to love CSI New York
CSI New York
is the newer, younger relative of CSI but just because it’s a newer show doesn’t mean it doesn’t give CSI some competition. CSI New York stays true to its cause by delivering a truly gritty and sometimes brutal crime drama.

A familiar face
Steady does it for CSI New York as the show has had Gary Sinise at its helm for the past nine seasons. It’s not difficult to figure out why as the man is one of the greatest TV actors of his time and has won many accolades to prove it, including an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

Solving the crime
The crimes on CSI New York have been known to delve into mind boggling territory. We have seen some unbelievable crimes on the show: like a man being killed in the future and a young woman’s body found in Central Park, drained of blood and missing part of her ear.

New York, New York
When looking for crime stories, you can’t go wrong with the Big Apple. The city that never sleeps is the place where people go to make their dreams come true but there is another side to this city that makes it a perfect place for murder mysteries and detective work.

Visiting the M-Net Facebook page now and tell us which CSI you love more.

Don’t forget, you can catch brand new seasons of CSI on Wed, 15 May at 10:30pm WAT and CSI New York on Thu 16 May at 10:30pm WAT.
