Reasons to watch Red Widow on M-Net

Red Widow is a riveting new drama which airs on M-Net Fridays at 10pm WAT.

Go into the life of Marta Walraven, who can no longer turn a blind eye to her family’s way of making money.

Her father, brother and husband are actively involved in the world of organised crime and when her husband is brutally murdered, she is forced to step into this rather dangerous spotlight to get to the bottom of his murder and also settle their huge debt.

Through all of this, Marta continues to be a devoting mother to her three children and makes a point of keeping them out of harm’s way.

It stars Kenyan actor
Kenyan actor Edi Gathegi stars in this crime drama as Leon. Edi is well-known for his role in the teen saga Twilight as vampire Laurent. He also had roles in HouseNikita and the movie X-Men: First Class.

 
An international cast
Australian actress Radha Mitchell takes on the lead in Red Widow as Marta Walraven. She’s best known for her roles in the hit movies Finding NeverlandMan On Fire and Pitch Black.

Croatian actor Goran Visnjic is well-known for his roles in ERThe Girl With The Dragon Tattooand Elektra. In Red Widow, he is Nicholae, a crime boss who Marta owes a lot of money to.

Indian actress Suleka Mathew had a lead role in Hawthorne and Men In Trees and she also stars in this riveting drama as Dina, the wife of one of Marta’s business partners..

Melissa Rosenberg is the writer and executive producer of Red Widow. She wrote three of the movies in the Twilight saga and also executive produced the crime drama Dexter. Melissa describes Marta as one who is very complicated, the type of character usually reserved for men on TV, so who knows what she has in store for Marta.
