PICK OF THE DAY: Comedy Central Presents BasketMouth Live at Parker’s – Comedy Central at 7:55pm (WAT)

Known to his fans as BasketMouth, Bright Okpocha’s first attempt at standup comedy in 1999 was a disaster. The crowd got irritated and booed the comedian off the stage. Later that year, he came back after doing some research on what brand of comedy would sell in Uniben. That was the beginning of BasketMouth’s acceptance into the world of standup comedy.

Basketmouth hit the big screen when the comedian featured in international concerts by Joe, Boys2Men, Sean Paul, Beyoncé, Wyclef Jean, Dru Hill, Akon, Snoop Dogg, Ciara and Chris Brown. Back to back for the last four years, BasketMouth has won the National Comedy Award for Best Comedian of the Year and Best Standup Comedian of the Year (2005/6).

He formed a company called Humor Unlimited, produced a stage play, Devils Kiss, in 2004 and in 2006 created the one man standup comedy show BasketMouth Uncensored which made history in Nigeria.
