Obama -  His Story

There is no hiding the continent’s excitement over President Barack Obama’s upcoming visit to Africa from 26 June to 3 July. The president is scheduled to touch base in West Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa.

According to reports, President Obama will spend one night in Dakar, Senegal, two nights in Johannesburg, one in Cape Town and one in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, during his African tour.

To coincide with the US President’s trip, here is a lavish programming round-up to tune in to:

The Men who Built America on Wednesday 19 June at 7:30pm on History – John D. Rockefeller, Cornelius Vanderbilt, Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford and J.P. Travel like a president on Saturday 29 June at 6am on the Travel Channel  Travel Like a President reveals what it takes to move just one man from place to place. From former administration insiders to locals on the ground, we learn it’s not just about protecting the leader of the free world: It’s about feeding him, scheduling him, and keeping him happy on the road. Hundreds of people are involved with the logistics of each and every trip — including a presidential vacation.

Final 24: JFK Jr on Wednesday 31 July at 8:55pm on Discovery World – Reconstructing the final hours of John F Kennedy Jr – son of the late president – who died in tragic circumstances when the aircraft he was piloting plunged into the sea.
