Federer bidding for magical No 8 at Wimbledon – live on SuperSport
After more than 45 years of the open era of professional tennis without a men’s eight-time winner of a particular grand slam, two players could achieve this in a space of five weeks.
Roger Federer will become the second to do so should he triumph at Wimbledon after Rafael Nadal’s eighth lifting of the Coupe des Mousquetaires at Roland Garros earlier this month.
With victory at last week’s Gary Webber Open, his first title of the year, Federer heads to the hallowed turfs of SW19 in confident mood of claiming the magical eighth title and stretching his lead at the summit of most grand slam men’s singles titles in the open era and of all time to 17.
On the women’s front, 16-time grand slam champion Serena Williams looks unstoppable. The five-time Wimbledon champion is on a 31-match winning streak and recently breezed to her second Roland Garros title dropping just one set.
Wimbledon will be screened live exclusively on SuperSport across three channels SS2HD, SS1 and SS5 daily.
