The Most Gifted Video of the Year category is highly contested with the following music videos going head to head: Khona by MafikizoloStella Stella Stella by STLAlingo by P-Square,Antenna by Fuse ODG featuring Wyclef JeanHit ‘Em Up by Xtatic featuring AKA and Priddy Ugly#DatsWasup by Zeus featuring AKA and TumiAzonto by WizkidGet Control by Paul Gfeaturing FabulousDo It Like I Can by ReasonLife (Walaahi) by R2BeesAboki by Ice Prince as well as Jealousy by AKA.

The Channel O Africa Music Video Awards are not only about celebrating the innovation and imagination of musicians through videos that were released in the past year. They are also about honouring those who have paved the way for other African artists and continue to do so. This is done through the Special Recognition Award.

The first Special Recognition Award was given to George Lee from Ghana in 2008. This was followed by the late great South African, Brenda Fassie, in 2009. K’Naan, who was born in Somalia but made it big in North America, was the recipient in 2010 and he was followed by Nigerian superstar D’Banj. Last year, Kalawa Jazzmee co-founder Oscar Mdlongwa – popularly known as Oskido – was bestowed with this honour and this year, it is the turn of the most famous twins to come out of Nigeria. That’s right, R’n’B singers Paul and Peter Okoye ofP-Square are the 2013 Special Recognition Award honorees.

But that’s about all we can divulge at this stage. Channel O has plenty more tricks up its sleeve. To be in the know about all things that are related to the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards, follow @ChannelOTV on Twitter and use the #CHOAMVA hashtag to join the conversation.
