DStv is set to broadcast one of Nigeria’s cultural showpiece events, the Calabar Carnival to over 40 countries on the continent this December.

Tagged “Africa’s Biggest Street Party”, the Calabar Carnival has boosted the cultural mosaic of the Nigerian people while entertaining millions of spectators globally, thereby enhancing the nation’s tourism sector.

This year’s festival will feature Beija-Flor – Brazil’s most successful band as well as bands from Trinidad & Tobago, Rwanda and France. Other highlights will include performances from some of Nigeria’s biggest artists including P-Square, D’Banj, Timaya, Waje, Omawumi and Wizkid.

DStv’s coverage of the showpiece event follows its long line of partnerships with host communities to promote local initiatives with the underlining theme of exporting the best from Nigeria to the rest of the continent and beyond.

Managing Director of MultiChoice Nigeria, Mr. John Ugbe says that DStv is the ultimate destination for non-stop entertainment this festive season. “We choose this festive season to remind Nigerians of their roots and to serenade them with some indigenous and special centerpiece events that are packaged to leave lasting memories in their hearts. Of course, our support for initiatives of this nature underlines our commitment to the promotion of the best that Nigeria and indeed Africa, has to offer.”

The special live coverage of the 2013 Calabar Carnival will be broadcast live on channel 199 to DStv Family, Compact, Compact Plus and Premium subscribers from midnight on 26 December 2013.
