New BOX TV launches in Africa
BOX Television has recently launched channels in Hungary and Tanzania, expanding the brand’s reach into Central Europe and strengthing its presence in East Africa.
Pop chart channel, Smash Hits, launched on the dominant Hungarian platform, Magyar Telekom. It is the first in a number of planned European launches for this year.
BOX Africa launched on Tanzanian DTH platform, Azam TV, adding another African operator to the list of carriers, which also includes Zuku and Zap. BOX Africa and its sister channels, Smash Hits, Kiss, Magic and Kerrang! are also broadcasting across Sub-Saharan and South Africa on Star Times and Star Sat – with a number of additional launches planned for this year in West Africa and the Indian Ocean.
Smash Hits features the latest pop hits with a lowdown on what’s impacting the charts right now. Viewers can check out music’s movers and shakers with shows like the Airplay Chart and UKHot40. The channel features the biggest stars in pop music like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Pink and One Direction.
BOX Africa is BOX TV’s flagship channel created specifically for this new market and showcases A-list international RnB and Hip Hop music as well as the very best African music including Kwaito, Afrobeats and Nigerian Hip Hop.
