Superbowl XLVIII exclusively live on SuperSport
The Superbowl is the crown jewel of American sport, a smorgasbord of hype where a 30-second TV commercial costs $4 million.
Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers provide this year’s half-time show, and a television audience of around 110 million is expected in the United States alone.
Across Sub-Saharan Africa, the game is exclusively live on SuperSport.
Unusually, both sides in this year’s Superbowl boast the best two records in the NFL throughout the regular seasons and playoffs. The Denver Broncos, quarterbacked by the great Peyton Manning, are also the NFL’s top offence this season and the Seahawks are statistically the best defensive side.
The Seahawks have never won the Superbowl and are making just their second appearance after losing in 2005 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Broncos, by contrast, will be making their 7th appearance, although their first since 1999.
They have won two Superbowls and Manning is looking to become the first quarterback in history to win with two different teams, having led the Indianapolis Colts to the coveted Vince Lombardi trophy in 2007.
Superbowl XLVIII takes place in the early hours of Monday morning at what is expected to be a cold and snowy MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
