To those football fans that are already showing withdrawal symptoms since the conclusion of the Barclays Premier League on Sunday 11 May: with our collection of football action including European competitions, domestic leagues and International Friendlies, there is no need to worry.

On Saturday 17 May at 5pm on SS3/SS3HD, we see the conclusion of the FA Cup tournament between Arsenal and Hull City. The Gunners managed to secure a place in next season’s Uefa Champions League competition, while the Tigers fought to stay in the Premier League for another season. The showdown between the two sides will be an opportunity for both to extract another positive from the season.

With the 2014 Fifa World Cup in sight, participating nations are starting to fine tune their squads. This will be case in the International Friendly between Netherlands and Ecuador on Saturday 17 May at 7:25pm on SS3/SS3HD. Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia, will be expected to make a huge impact in the match for the Ecuadorians.

The temperature might be dropping in South Africa, but we can guarantee that the Nedbank Cup final (Saturday 17 May at 2pm on SS4) between Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits will be sizzling hot. The two clubs will lock horns at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Barcelona (86 points) will have all to do in their Spanish La Liga match against Atletico Madrid (89 points) in their final match of the season on Sunday 18 May at 7:55pm on SS3/SSB/SS3HD. A win or a draw for Atletico will see them win their first title since the 1995/96 season. However, the visitors will expect a not-so-welcoming reception when they take the field at a packed Camp Nou.

Athletico Madrid feature again in the Uefa Champions League when they face arch rivals Real Madrid on Saturday 24 May (at 7pm on SS3/SS3HD). The two clubs have met on three previous occasions in the Champions League, with Real winning two of those meetings.

After a disappointing showing in the 2010 Fifa World Cup which saw the French bow out of the tournament in the first round, Les Bleus will want much needed momentum going into their International Friendly against Norway on Tuesday 27 May, on SS3/SS3HD at 6:50pm.

The following day, Wednesday 28 May, the Super Eagles will take flight in their match against Scotland on SS3/SS3HD at 6:50pm. The Nigerians have been in sublime form after winning the 2014 African Nations Championship held in South African earlier in the year.

On Friday 30 May, football fans will be spoilt for choice when SuperSport airs the International Friendly between Uruguay and Northern Ireland and a must-see match between Bolivia and Spain.

We finally end the month on Saturday 31 May with Ivory Coast against Bosnia at 1:20am on SS5 and the Black Stars of Ghana facing off against the Netherlands at 7:20pm on SS3/SS3HD. The Ivoirians will want nothing less of victory against their Southeastern Europe opponents which will be a huge boost ahead of their first game against Japan in Brazil.

Ghana will start their campaign in Brazil with a clash against USA in Group G, which also consists of European giants in the likes of Germany and the Dutch.

To top off our extensive football coverage, your World of Champions will broadcast all the drama, ecstasy from the 2014 Fifa World Cup in June.
