Billboard Music Awards 2014 live on Channel O
Continually leading from the front when it comes to the best in music television, Channel O (DStv Channel 320) will once again be broadcasting the 2014 Billboard Music Awards live on Monday, 19 May at 1am WAT.
Presented by the Atlanta native and hip-hop star Ludacris, the ceremony will feature some of the biggest names in the global music industry.
A host of emerging pop stars dominate the list of finalists. With Lorde and the Imagine Dragons leading with 12 nominations and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis following closely with nods in 11 of the 40 categories, the Billboard Music Awards look set to be a captivating spectacle.
Other notable stars who also made the final nomination list include Drake, Beyoncé Knowles, Jason Derulo, Rihanna (who has amassed more than 60 nominations since the inception of the awards) and the happiest man in the game right now: Pharrell Williams.
Among some of the highlights of the evening, viewers can look forward to a world premiere experience of pop legend Michael Jackson’s posthumous album, Xscape, and a special performance from Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez who will be debuting the official Brazil 2014 World Cup Anthem, We Are One (Ole Ola). J-Lo is also set to be the first female to receive the prestigious Icon Award for her remarkable contributions to popular music on the evening.
Sultry singing sensation Shakira and Blurred Lines superstar Robin Thicke have recently been added to the star-studded line up of performing artists who will amaze viewing audiences on the night.
