DStv Basketball League hits the final stretch

We get one step closer to determining the champion of the DStv Premier Basketball League tomorrow. The final four teams meet in the semi-finals of the playoffs. The defending champions, Kano Pillars, take on the Gombe Bulls, while the Mark Mentors face the Dodan Warriors.
Kano Pillars
The undefeated defending champions made light work of the group phase as they swept through Group A. They defeated Union Bank 88-71 and absolutely demolished the Plateau Peaks 93-53. The Dodan Warriors put up a fight in the final game, but Abubakar Usman’s 31 points were enough to see the Pillars through undefeated.
Dodan Warriors
The Dodan Warriors have been a bit of a surprise package in the playoffs. The Warriors saw off Union Bank 65-52 in the opener, before giving the undefeated Kano Pillars a huge scare in a 84-79 loss. They sealed qualification with a 71-57 victory over the Plateau Peaks.
Gombe Bulls
Led by Togolese forward, Fofana Saibou, the Gombe Bulls finished the group phase with a 2-1 record. After dropping the opening game 58-76 to the Mark mentors, the Bulls bounced back with wins against the Oluyole Warriors (53-34) and Islanders (45-42) to make the semi-finals.
Mark Mentors
Ahmedu Peter’s guard-heavy lineup helped the Mark Mentors run the table in Group B. The Mentors soundly defeated the Gombe Bulls in their opener 76-5, squeaked past the Islanders 53-50, and sealed qualification with an easy 82-61 over the Oluyole Warriors.
The DStv PBL Playoffs continue on SuperSport 7 tomorrow. The Kano Pillars take on theGombe Bulls at 3pm WAT, while the Mark Mentors take on the Dodan Warriors at 5pm WAT.
