The Oscar Pistorius Trial Channel 199 returns on 7 August

Viewers of The Oscar Pistorius Trial: A Carte Blanche Channel (DStv Channel 199) will finally be able to catch up on the trial after a month-long recess, when the pop up channel goes back on air on Thursday, 7 August 2014 at 08:00. 

Court proceedings will commence at 09:30 when closing arguments from both the defense and prosecution will be presented to Judge Thokozile Masipa. The channel will broadcast for two days only; after which it will pop down again until judgment.

The line-up for the two-day broadcast will remain the same. 

The Morning Show, a live show which starts at 08:00 every morning, is hosted by Carte Blancheveteran Devi Sankaree Govender with regular live crossings to Talk Radio 702’s John Webb at the High Court in Pretoria. The show recaps on previous events in court and assesses what is expected to happen in court each day. Legal analysts, editors, social media gurus and journalists join in on the conversation. The show returns during the court’s tea break from 11:00 – 11:20.

The live broadcast from the courtroom starts at 09:30 – 11:00 while the court is in session. After the court’s tea break, the live broadcast continues until 13:00, when the court takes a lunch break and The Lunch Time Show takes over. This live one hour roundup is hosted by Carte Blanche’s Bongani Bingwa with regular live crossings to John Webb at the High Court in Pretoria. They recap on highlights from the morning’s trial proceedings and are joined by a top legal analyst and senior journalist Barry Bateman.

The Afternoon Show is also hosted by Bingwa and Webb. The show premieres at 15:00, following the final live session from the courtroom between 14:00 and 15:00 and provides an overview and analysis of the day’s events in court as well as court highlights. It is repeated at 16:00 and 17:00 respectively.

Popular Talk Radio 702 presenter David O’Sullivan provides a daily comprehensive overview of the trial with highlights from the day’s court proceedings in Trial Overview with David O’Sullivan at 18:00. Guests include journalists, lawyers and social media specialists. O’Sullivan also responds to the public’s queries on the law via #AskDavid. And in Legal Roundtable with David O’Sullivan at 20:00, O’Sullivan and a panel of legal experts debate and analyse the events in court from a legal perspective.

Guests on the live show, Court Today with Katy Katopodis at 19:00 include lawyers, experts, and psychologists and Katy also hosts the Editor’s Panel. Court highlights will be repeated from each day of the trial.

From 21:00 viewers can see repeats and highlights of the day until midnight when the channel goes off the air until the following morning at 08:00.
