Nick Jr., Nicktoons to debut on DStv 30 September

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa will broaden its entertainment offering on DStv across Africa with the launch of two new 24-hour kids and family channels from Nickelodeon.

With the launch of Nick Jr. and Nicktoons on 30 September, VIMN Africa now delivers more TV channels than any other international media company on the continent, with a total of eight distinct entertainment brands. This expansion of its portfolio, which also includes MTV, MTV Base, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and VH1 Classic, increases VIMN Africa’s offering of high quality content to audiences across all key age demographics.

For kiddies entertainment Nick Jr, set to launch on DStv Premium, Compact Plus and Compact bouquets on channel 307, provides safe and entertaining viewing reinforcing positive messaging to pre-schoolers between the ages of three to five years old. This channel promises to keep the young ones glued to their screens with familiar friends such as Dora the Explorer, Bubble Guppies, Go, Diego, Go! and Paw Patrol, with a host of brand new series due to launch in 2015, including Dora & Friends, Blaze and the Monster Machines, and Shimmer & Shine.

Additionally, Nicktoons available on channel 308, will offer a mix of current and classic programmes appealing to both the four to nine years age group and the entire family. Available to DStv Premium, Compact Plus and Compact subscribers, it will feature series from Nickelodeon´s famous animation library including The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, T.U.F.F. Puppy, Back to the Barnyard, Avatar and Fanboy & Chum Chum, and timeless favorites such as Rugrats and The Wild Thornberrys.

In support of the Viacom and MultiChoice partnership Nico Meyer, MultiChoice Africa CEO added that the three new channels will give DStv customers an even wider variety of entertainment options. “Our DStv customers will no doubt be delighted that BET is finally available on their screens and that kids will be entertained for hours with the great shows on Nick Jr and Nicktoons. We want to add channels that fill a gap in our entertainment offering with ones we know our subscribers will love to watch.”
