2014 – Our year in TV sport

It was a roller-coaster ride of emotions in the 2014 sporting calendar. Rival teams continued to bring drama and entertainment and fans lapped up all that was on offer.

However, we have to remember the dearly departed as the lives of two sporting stars were cut short with the tragic passing of Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa and Australian batsman Phillip Hughes.

There were also times of great joy as teams and individuals engraved their names in the history books. Check out our favourite sporting moments of the year, safely stored in our DStv Explora.

Germany conquers the world

Rio de Janeiro proved to be a good hunting ground for the Germans as they won their fourth Fifa World Cup title in the final against Argentina. This memorable game is by far our most prized recording.

Mayweather lets his fists do the talking
Call us physicists but we just knew Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana would turn up the heat and they did not disappoint. Not even the Argentine could break Mayweather’s undefeated streak. If anyone dares delete these two fights heads will roll.

Kenya rules London
The London Marathon became an All-Kenyan affair as Wilson Kipsang and Edna Kiplagat took home the gold in the men’s and women’s races respectively.

The Europeans put USA to the sword
If golf is your choice of sport, then you definitely enjoyed all the drama that unfolded in this year’s Ryder Cup tournament. Europe once again took the Americans to school and retained the title.

Hamilton on top of the world again
With 220 hours of the recording space on our DStv Explora, we will be taking a trip down memory to see how Lewis Hamilton won his second Formula 1 Championship.

Take buying the DStv Explora on top of your bucket list for 2015 and start your archive of memorable sporting moments.
