The hot new show Empire is a hip hop drama about a family-run music company, which features an award-winning cast and crew. Empire was created as a movie first but later adopted into a series by Oscar winners Lee Daniels and Danny Strong.

Here’s why you shouldn’t miss the show:

Cast is king
The show’s popularity is due in no small part to an incredible cast. Former Hustle & Flow co-stars Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson electrify as Empire Entertainment mogul Lucious Lyon and his ex-wife Cookie, who was recently released from jail on the drug hustling charges that gave the couple the capital to start their empire.

Newcomers Trai Byers, Jussie Smollett and Bryshere Gray stand out as the three Lyon sons and guest stars like Cuba Gooding Jr., Naomi Campbell, and Gabourey Sidibe add to the awesome drama.

Cookie is queen
Cookie is the queen! Taraji P Henson plays Cookie Lyon, Lucious’ estranged ex-wife who comes home from a 17-year stint in jail and causes a heavy storm. Cookie is vivacious, motherly, talented, sassy, chatty, as real as they come and so damn sexy! She is definitely the Queen B in this show…

Hip hop rocks
The soundtrack for this show drives the characters and the plot. Grammy Award-winning producer and rapper Timbaland, who is known for working with Missy Elliot, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna and others, is the show’s executive music producer. The soundtrack is dropping soon so make sure you grab a copy.

Easy on the eyes
Lucious and Cookie Lyon must have some great genes because their sons are everything to look at! Andre Lyon, the oldest of the three is the non-musician of the family but what he lacks in talent he makes up for in business sense. Jamal Lyon, the sultry singer, is easy on the eyes and has more talent than the whole family put together! Hakeem Lyon is the last born who is spoilt as hell but can hold a bar or two and has the superstar X-factor.

Guest star power

The guest appearances on this show will leave you in awe, Cuba Gooding Jr., Naomi Campbell, Gabourey Sidibe, Rita Ora, Mary J Blige and even Snoop Dogg grace the show with their presence.

Sizzling performances
Terrance Howard, the male lead, is an Oscar-nominated actor and singer who plays a drug dealer-turned-rapper-turned-CEO of Empire. Just like any other role he plays, his character Lucious Lyon is intense, crafty, intelligent and not afraid of anything – or so it seems.

Fantasic fashion
If you are a lover of good things, you will love the fashion statements in this show! From downright ratchet to high-end couture runway stuff. Keep an eye out for Cookie’s fashion transformation, her son done hooked her up!

Empire premieres on Wednesday 4 March at 8pm WAT on FOX, don’t miss it!
