MultiChoice hires former Viacom exec, David Booth as content chief
MultiChoice Africa has appointed former Viacom, Virgin Media and Channel 4 executive David Booth as its chief content officer.
Booth, who joined the Naspers-owned pay TV operator in February, was previously doing consulting work following a six year stint at Viacom – first as vice-president of programming at MTV networks UK and Ireland, then as senior vice-president of content and programming at MTV Brands.
Prior to this, Booth was director of network scheduling and broadcasting at UK cable operator Virgin Media and held various positions at UK terrestrial broadcasters Channel 4 and the BBC.
Nico Meyer, CEO of MultiChoice Africa praised Booth’s “passion for programming” and “track record across global TV markets.”
“We are sure that he will help drive our content strategy across the continent in order to grow our business to even greater heights,” said Meyer.
