Microsoft releases developer tools for building Windows 10 universal apps

Windows10_Phone_Laptop

Microsoft has released a set of tools that allow developers to get started building apps for the Windows 10 Universal App platform.

The company has made available the tools, alongside sample code for universal apps. This means developers can start building apps that work across desktop, tablet, Xbox, embedded and mobile devices using a single codebase.

To get started, developers need to be part of the Windows Insider Program and using the latest build, then download Visual Studio 2015 CTP6 and the SDK tools for Windows 10.

Windows 10 is due to be released this coming summer, so Microsoft is giving developers time to update their apps and build new ones that take advantage of the universal app platform.
