YouTube TV rolls out in 10 more US markets

YouTube has rolled out its recently launched US subscription TV service in 10 new metro areas, making it available in 15 markets in total.

YouTube TV is now available in Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, Detroit, Houston, Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourne, Phoenix and Washington DC.

YouTube first unveiled the service in March and initially introduced the over-the-top offering in Chicago, Philadelphia, New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles.

YouTube TV offers a line-up of more than 40 channels, including the some of the biggest US broadcast networks in ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and ESPN.

It is available across devices, includes a cloud DVR with “no storage limits” for recording TV shows, and costs US$35 per month without commitments – substantially cheaper than a typical US cable subscription.

Access to YouTube’s homegrown SVOD service, YouTube Red, is also included as part of the offering and users can add additional premium TV networks – such as Showtime or Fox Soccer Plus – to their line-up for an additional charge.

Asuquo Eton founded talkmediaafrica.com, now one of the most visited TV, music, tech and features website, in 2011. He is also a social media analyst, media and entertainment consultant.
