Hey Cubay! Would you like to introduce yourself to our readers?
I’m Cubay B. Wilson Jr., born in Liberia On June 5, 1989 to the union of Cubay B. Wilson Sr. and Youtee Smith. 5’10” in height and work at a Psychiatric clinic in Annapolis, Maryland as a QA & PRP Counselor.
Talk me through an average day in the life of you?
My average day consists of prayer to the Almighty for life, work, gym workout or soccer practice after work.
What institution(s) did you attend and what did you study?
I attended the Community College of Baltimore County studying Nursing. And later went into psychology and electrical engineering.
I heard you play football (soccer), what team do you play for?
Currently play for the Next Level Soccer Generation (NLS) in the Maryland Major Soccer league.
Any plans to go full-time pro and play in Europe or in the Major League Soocer (MLS) in the United States?
I’m working on traveling to Europe in couple of months by God’s Grace.
How were you discovered and what inspired you to go into modelling?
I was discovered by a friend in 2013 (June Damey) when she needed the perfect male model to represent her clothing line called Dameys Collections in its first Annual Fashion Show. After that show, I got a lot of positive feedbacks so I decided to persuade modeling.
Will you say the fitness industry in the United States is doing well?
The fitness industry is doing very well.
Looking at your photos from 2013 to now there as been massive changes and improvements. What will you say motivated/inspired you to go into fitness and stay dedicated in it?
I was motivated to go into fitness when a soccer coach in Europe, Sweden told me in order for me to go to the next level in soccer, I needed to add some muscles to my frame because I was very thin. Now I stay dedicated to fitness because I want to be prepared whenever an opportunity comes my way for soccer or modeling.
What do you do to stay in shape, do you go to the gym?
I go to the gym 5 days a week and also play soccer to stay in shape.
How do you balance your professional and personal life?
Balancing my professional life from my personal life all comes down to differentiating work from pleasure.
How would you describe the modeling scene in the United States, will you say the industry is encouraging new faces?
Yes, the industry is definitely encouraging new faces.
What do you consider the most common stereotype about the modeling and fitness industry?
People stereotype models and people in the fitness industry to be conceited.
What aspect surprised you the most once you started in the industry?
I was surprised by how most models have very low self-esteem.
Looking back to when you started as a model, is there anything you would like to change about the industry?
For now, there isn’t anything I would like to change.
Which brands, clients, models, photographers, etc, have you worked with?
Brands (MelxFashion, Dameys Collections, Ezclothin, Dukulyla by Executive African Fashion and Marcuse underwear)
Who do you want to work with that you haven’t yet?
I would like to work with Pump Underwear.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge was making certain poses (seductive) during a shoot in the past.
Tell us two things people don’t know about you?
People don’t know that;
1. I am an artist (Drawing)
2. I was also chosen to work in the passport department (Ministry of foreign Affairs) in Liberia when I was 14years old because of my handwriting.
You are very active on social media. Do you think its important to be online and if so why?
It’s very important to be active online nowadays because that’s how you keep up with what’s going on around the world including keeping up with the latest fashion trends.
You are from Liberia, but now based in the United States. How is that working out for you?
Life in the United States is going well because I’m employed and able to chase my dreams.
What are your must visit travel destinations?
I most recently traveled to Germany and Lebanon.
How would you describe your style?
My style is very simple, versatile and original. I wear whatever I’m comfortable with and not what others are wearing.
What style genre appeals to you the most?
Casual style appeals to me the most.

What are your favorite fashion trends?
Favorite fashion trends have to be Fitted clothes (Skinny jeans/pants) and Chelsea boots.
What is your favorite dish?
Favorite dish is fried rice with shrimp.
What songs are currently on your playlist?
Hiphop, R&B and African music.
Apart from fitness, modelling and football, what other projects are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on opening a foundation in Liberia to help with kids tuition.
Seeing you’re doing your dreams, what advice can you give others to pursue their dreams?
Always put God First in everything you do, always believe in yourself even if people around you don’t, work hard, be discipline/humble and never give up because anything is possible.
Any specific plans for the future?
Plan on opening my own business.
