ViacomCBS is expanding its CBS News App to 89 countries outside of the US

Viewers are already able to watch CBSN via the web around the globe, but this marks the first time that the company will make its dedicated app available to international users.

The app offers rolling news coverage for free, 24/7 hours a day and it is available on a number of platforms including Amazon Fire TV, Android, Android TV, Chromecast and Chromecast built-in devices, and LG Smart TVs.

Following a record-setting March, which drew more than 100 million streams, the newscaster is expanding the app to countries including France, Italy, the UK, Hong Kong and South Korea ahead of the 2020 US presidential election.

Christy Tanner, executive vice president and general manager of CBS News Digital said: “Our research shows that there is global demand for CBS News’ reporting on issues and events that impact everyone. With CBSN’s expanded availability in international app stores we can now deliver vital, in-depth coverage on urgent and pivotal news events to more viewers in more places.”

Asuquo Eton founded talkmediaafrica.com, now one of the most visited TV, music, tech and features website, in 2011. He is also a social media analyst, media and entertainment consultant.
