Battle of the Sounds: Season 2 To Adopt New Tweaks for COVID-19 Safety

Upcoming artists are excited at the idea of the Battle of the Sounds being another platform that gives opportunities to fame and jump-starting their careers.

The second edition of Battle of the Sounds which is a Penta-genre music competition will hold this November, however with a little tweak from the original idea says Bizzybody NG, the main outfit behind the youth empowerment and talent hunt project. This is so that the rules of social distancing can be encouraged in this pandemic season.

The street battle format usually held in a wrestling ring structure with spectators cheering all around will now be held in production studios with the judges’ and the contestants’ activities covered and streamed live to audiences around the world.

This for us expands the reach of the programme to a global audience and gives us the opportunity to touch more lives says Davies Den of Den Visuals, one of the conveners.

Another tweak to the competition format is the raised emphasis on digital processes such as fan votes and interactions during the event. Judging criteria will also be slightly different in this new ‘Lockdown’ edition of the event.

The ongoing registration process will be followed by initial screening of entries submitted via the online form at battleofthesounds.com/register, and selected applicants will be contacted and prepped before the event begins on November 7 and ends on November 29, 2020.

Though the schedule of the battles remains on weekends i.e. Saturdays and Sundays to allow for maximum participation, another improvement from the last edition is the increase in the prize sum to be shared among winners in the different categories, and this we hope gets bigger in subsequent editions, says Kunle Keshinro, in charge of partnership and remunerations.

Battle of the Sounds (Season 2) tagged the Lockdown edition has secured strategic partnerships with media houses and some major brands that will be announced as the event draws nearer.

Celebrities like Faze, Sound Sultan, Indomix, Yaw, GT da Guitarman, Lafup, and K-Peace of the Nigerian Idol fame have been touted to be part of this 2020 edition.
