TM EXCLUSIVE: All I Do Is Win – MSQUAD Spoof (Teaser Video)

First of its kind in the entertainment industry in Nigeria!

The MSQUAD team, under the leadership of Producer/Director/Cinematographer/Editor/Engineer – Lanre Tyson, did a “High Budget” spoof of the remix of the hit track “All I Do Is Win” (originally done by DJ Khaleed ft. Diddy, Nikki Minaj, Rick Ross, Jadakis, Fabolous, Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes)

The project started with producing a remake of the song, which featured artistes from the Nigerian group “presrock entertainment”.

The remake of the video was produced by MSQUAD PRODUCTIONS, a unit under the MSQUAD GROUP media division, under the technical and creative direction of Lanre Tyson.

Several days were spent planning for the shoot with all members of the MSQUAD PRODUCTIONS team present, just to make sure due attention was paid to all necessary details.

The spoof project involved the following:
1- Re-constructing the instrumentals for the audio track from scratch.

2- Creating matching lyrics from scratch.

3- Mastering the final track to sound as good as the original audio track.

4- Sourcing for (buying and sewing) matching costumes similar to those used in the original video.

5- Sourcing for (buying and creating) matching props similar to those used in the original video.

6- Sourcing for matching hair and make-up elements similar to those used in the original video.

7- Sourcing for matching dulux paint colors to re-create the colored set-backgrounds similar to those used in the original video.

8- Sourcing for models to play roles similar to those used in the original video.

9- Sesigning and constructing the first ever “Kino Flo Web Light” in Nigeria! This was designed and built by a team of graduate Nigerian engineers (Ismail Salami and Lanre Tyson) and a local welder just to create the same reflection pattern that was created in the original video. This particular lighting equipment is made up of sixteen (16) 4200Kelvin (color temparature) 4feet kino flo bulbs and is not available to rent or buy anywhere in Nigeria! so had to be custom built by the electrical engineering unit of the ENGINEERING division of MSQUAD GROUP. This web light is very similar to the one used in the original video which was made up of sixteen 5600Kelvin 6feet kino flo bulbs. We were unable to source for 5600Kelvin 6ft. kino flo bulbs locally from the famous Alaba international market so had to settle for the bulbs locally available. In order to still match the same look and feel, the camera was white balanced at a color temparature that compensated for the difference in kelvin ratings.

10- Shooting with a lighting design that created the same picture quality achieved in the original video.

11- Sourcing for a studio big enough to accommodate all the casts, colored background sets (9) and crew/equipment.

12- Though the original video was shot on a RED camera, budgetary constraints made us go for the cheaper Canon 5D camera (for all the shots@24frames per second @1920 x 1080 resolution) and the canon T2i (for all the shots@50frames per second at 1280 x 720 resolution).

13- Post production was done on apple computers using apple final cut pro 7 for editing and davinci resolve for color grading.

The full lenght video will be released on the 1st of october 2011 in commemoration of Nigeria’s independence anniversary.

Watch the behind the scenes package on MNET Channel 102 at 9pm, on September 26 on the entertainment program, 53Extra.

The project is a bold statement by the MSQUAD team lead by Lanre Tyson and a testimony to the fact that there is abundant creative talent and technical expertise in Nigeria to achieve anything we set our minds to.

The project also serves as an indirect campaign to all Nigerian artistes/agencies/brands to enociurage and patronise Nigerian audio & video producers/directors/editors/cinematographers/audio & video production companies for all their audio/visual needs as this project by MSQUAD proves that we can go to any length necessary to achieve any concept or quality desired!
