SuperSport acquires 2012 Olympic broadcast rights

All 26 sports of the 2012 Olympics will be covered by the pay-TV broadcaster SuperSport, which has secured the rights to broadcast the Games, running from 27 July to 12 August 2012.

SuperSport coverage will be spread across multiple channels, including HD channels and 24-hour channels. Each channel will broadcast up to 14 hours of live sport daily, with the broadcast feed produced by the International Olympic Committee.

SuperSport will have four news crews in London, following South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and other teams, while daily highlights packages will also be broadcast.

A specially produced SuperSport Olympics weekend show, London Calling, will include special guests and athletes. Moreover, the Blitz channel will provide regular updates with live feeds.

On the new media side, there will be a dedicated Olympics presence on www.supersport.com.

In the meantime, SuperSport’s Olympic buildup commences with legacy programming as from 16 December.
